duration-100 ease-in-out\">The introduction of smoke-free zones on beaches and the adaptation of regulations in gastronomy reflect the growing awareness of health and environmental protection.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"\" data-start=\"268\" data-end=\"302\">Smoke-free beaches on Mallorca<\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"304\" data-end=\"461\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Since 2019, the Balearic health authority has been promoting the campaign &#8220;Platges sense fum, platges saludables&#8221; (smoke-free beaches are healthy beaches).<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">The aim is to class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Although the smoke-free beaches are a campaign, municipalities can prohibit smoking at the to 2000 euros, depending on the location.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"\" data-start=\"1359\" data-end=\"1388\">Smoking in the catering trade<\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1390\" data-end=\"1555\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Smoking on the terraces and outdoor areas of restaurants has been permitted again since July 2023.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">However, it is at the discretion of the respective catering establishment whether smoking is permitted.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Many restaurants provide ashtrays, while others prohibit smoking out of consideration for non-smokers.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"\" data-start=\"1557\" data-end=\"1590\">Environmental aspects and recommendations<\/h2>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1592\" data-end=\"1757\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Cigarette butts are not biodegradable and can pollute the sea and sand.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">They contain toxic, carcinogenic substances that can end up in the soil and the Mediterranean Sea.<\/span> <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100
